Flowers in my hair

Hi, lovely readers! It's been two weeks since my last post and we almost reach the end of July, whoa... Time flies! That means half of 2012 has gone by. I hope you've accomplished some of your 'New Year's Resolutions'. If you haven't, well you still have another five months left. Make good use of your time! ;)

What I've been doing lately?

As you can see from the photos above, I have finally permed my hair (for the first time in my life)! The reason for my perm was because my hair was *too* smooth and limp! One might think that straight hair is elegant or neat, well it is if it has Volume.

Take a look at Jennifer Aniston's photos below:

This is what I meant by limp hair. It makes your hair look oily and lifeless.
...and it certainly does not look as good as:
Straight hair with volume!
Or even more volume!
You know, before I permed my hair, I had to blow dry my hair plus curl it with a hair straightener (not a curling iron) every time I wanted to go outside just to create volume. And even tough I've finished it with a hair spray, it still didn't last that long (because it's too damn smooth)! Fml.

After googling and asking some of my friends, turns out hair-perming is the answer for this type of hair texture! The whole process took approx. 2 hours (not bad) and you know what? When it was done, my hair totally resembled Princess Merida's from Brave (aside from the hair color)! No kidding!

But apparently it does take 28 hours for a perm to 'relax.' Phew!
Fyi, the outfit photos above was taken one week after the process. Although it looks (and it is) drier than before, I honestly love how the result turns out! Now every time I want to go somewhere, I only need to blow dry my hair for a while (just to dry it up after I wash it) to get the end result. Save so much time and energy! I just hope it won't damage my hair. My hair stylist said I only need to give my hair a hair spa or creambath treatment once a week or every two weeks.

Some hair perming tips from About.com

"One way you can find out if your hair is damaged and can't withstand more chemical processing is to do the old float trick. Take a few strands of hair and put them in a glass of water, if they sink, this means your hair is damaged and is soaking up moisture. If the strands float, this means your hair is healthy."

"If you have dry hair or loads of short layers, you aren't the best candidate for a perm. Perms will dry hair out even more and a perm on short, layered hair could end up poodle-like.
Not sure if your hair is a good candidate for a perm? Ask your stylist."
